Essex County Council has ratified at tentative deal with its paramedics, heading off a strike that could have started on Friday.
The agreement was endorsed by the county's bargaining team, and CUPE Local 2974.2, which represents the paramedics at Essex Windsor EMS, is recommending its members ratify the deal.
"Our paramedics and support staff provide vital services every day, often under extraordinarily challenging circumstances," said Essex County Warden Hilda MacDonald. "This tentative agreement reflects the importance of that work."
CUPE Local 2974.2 will hold two information sessions for their members on Friday. An online ratification vote will start after the second meeting, and results could be known by Tuesday afternoon.
The deal was reached earlier this week after months of arduous talks.
