Jr. Hockey Wrap Up – September 15, 2016

The Leamington Flyers edged the LaSalle Vipers 3-2 in GOJHL action Thursday night.

Liam MacDougall scored 13:14 into the first period to give LaSalle a 1-0 lead. After no scoring in the second, Cale Phibbs tied the game with one goal early in the third for the Flyers.  Daniel Beaudoin then scored a power play goal allowing the Vipers to retake the lead, but Dallas Maurovic tied the game again for the Flyers, forcing overtime.

Thomas Virban scored the game winner for the Flyers 37 seconds into OT.

Leamington will take on the Stars in St. Thomas on Friday at 7:30pm. And then on Wednesday, the Vipers return home to take on the Chatham Maroons at 7pm.

Jude Bellingham scored a dramatic extra-time winner to send England into the World Cup semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Norway.
