Spitfires Take On Otters In Home Opener

The Windsor Spitfires take on the Erie Otters Thursday in the season home opener.

Head Coach Rocky Thompson admits there's extra pressure on the team this year with the MasterCard Memorial Cup coming to Windsor.

"It's important that we play well in the regular season, it's that we're in the contention if not leading for the division title," says Thompson.

He believes they have enough fire power in the lineup, good defense, and a star goalie to make that happen.

"All in all it's going to be exciting to be in front of our fans again, it's been a long summer and a good training camp but it will be fun to play for the real thing now," says Thompson.

The puck drops tonight at 7pm. The Spitfires are hosting a tailgate in the WFCU parking lot for fans prior to the game.
