The Windsor Spitfires have acquired defenceman Sean Day from the Mississauga Steelheads in exchange for draft picks.
The 18-year-old is the fourth player ever to be granted exceptional status by the Ontario Hockey League, and was Mississauga's first round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. Day was also picked in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft in Buffalo by the New York Rangers.
In four seasons, Day appeared in 183 regular season games with the Steelheads, earning 25 goals and 54 assists along with 127 penalty minutes.
Along with Day, Windsor will also receive Barrie's third round selection in 2019 and Mississauga's sixth in 2017. The Steelheads will get Niagara's second round pick in 2018, Sarnia's second pick in 2017, Windsor's fifth round pick in 2019 and Windsor's third in 2020.
Day will join the Spitfires lineup to host the Kingston Frontenacs on Thursday night.
