Spitfires Nominated For OHL Awards

The Windsor Spitfires have two players up for Ontario Hockey League awards this year.

Micheal DiPietro is nominated for Goaltender of the Year as well as the Red Tilson Trophy for Most Outstanding Player of the Year.

The Amherstburg native posted a goals against average of 2.35 (2nd best in OHL), a save percentage of 0.917 (3rd best in OHL), along with a record of 30-12-4-2 over the course of the 2016-17 season.

Mikhail Sergachev has a shot at the Max Kaminsky Trophy for OHL Defenceman of the Year.

After returning from a stint with the Montreal Canadiens to start the season, Sergachev amassed 43 points (10 goals, 33 assists) in 50 games.

The 2017 OHL Awards ceremony is set for June 8 at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
