After falling behind 2-0 early in the second period, the 73's fought back to make it 2-1 heading into the third. Essex then scored three back-to-back goals in the final frame to complete the comeback.
Anthony Cristofaro led Essex with two goals, while William Stadder and Jack Sanko each scored once.
The 73's head to Dreden on Friday to take on the Kings at 7:30pm.
