Spits head coach headed to Calgary Flames

The Windsor Spitfires are looking for a new head coach after Marc Savard accepted a coaching position in the NHL.

Savard is a new assistant coach with the Calgary Flames.

He has been with the Spitfires for two years.

“Thank you, Windsor. I would like to thank the great ownership group and GM Bill Bowler and Frank Evola for the opportunity to coach in the OHL. Thank you to my assistant coaches Jerrod Smith, Andy Delmore, Michael Leighton, video coach Johnathan Moran and all staff for all your hard work. Thank you to the fans who supported us and made it exciting to come to the rink every day. Last but not least, thank you to the players who trusted in me leading them and giving us everything they had night in and night out. Love you, Windsor. Thank you,” said Savard.

During the last season, Savard led the team to the top of the Western Conference. The Spitfires were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Kitchener Rangers.
