Tigers to show off massive new scoreboard for 2024 season

Baseball fans in Detroit will have an upgraded audio and visual experience next spring.

The Detroit Tigers announced Friday that a massive new scoreboard will be built at Comerica Park in time for the 2024 season. At 15,688 square feet, only the scoreboard at Citi Field in New York will be bigger.

"Investing in a world-class entertainment experience at Comerica Park for Tigers fans is a top priority for our organization, and we are excited to make these enhancements heading into next season," said Ilitch Sports + Entertainment COO and Executive Vice-President Ryan Gustafson. Work began Thursday on the scoreboard and will continue through the winter, according to the Tigers. When finished, the scoreboard will replace the model built when Comerica Park opened in 2000. Daktronics manufactured both the old and new boards.

The project comes with new speakers that will be close to the scoreboard, and the overall resolution will be upgraded. The team will also install new concourse televisions with additional channels, including live feeds of the Tigers’ minor-league teams. The connected IPTV system will also be upgraded to provide a consistent and enhanced visual experience throughout the ballpark.

The Tigers open their 2024 season on the road against the Chicago White Sox on March 28, 2024. The home opener will be April 5 against the Oakland A's.
