The Windsor Spitfires made easy work of the defending Memorial Cup Champion Saginaw Spirit.
They hosted the Spitfires on Sunday and won 7-3.
Both teams came out firing in the first period, combining for five goals.
Opening the scoring was Saginaw's Sebastien Gervais.
The next two goals were scored by the Spitfires. Getting the first was Ilya Protas and scoring the second was Jack Nesbitt. Protas' 40th goal was assisted by Ryan Abraham, while Cole Davis assisted on Nesbitt's 20th goal.
Michael Misa tied the game for Saginaw before Protas scored his second of the game. Abraham and Liam Greentree with the assists on Protas's 41st of the season.
The second period saw another four goals with the first three being scored by the Spitfires.
Tnias Mathurin got his 7th goal with Protas and Greentree getting the helpers. Nesbitt added a second goal with Mathurin and Noah Morneau getting the helpers. Abraham also scored his 22nd goal from Protas and Anthony Cristoforo.
Nic Sima capped the scoring in the period for Saginaw.
Only one goal was scored in the third period. Abraham got his second of the game with assists going to Protas and Greentree.
Protas ended the game with two goals and three assists.
With the win, Windsor's record improves to 39-13-4-1, while Saginaw moves to 32-23-1-1.
The Spitfires' next game is on Thursday, February 27, on the road against the Peterborough Petes.
