Three goals from Morneau help Spitfires win Game 2 against Sault Ste. Marie

The Windsor Spitfires made easy work of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Game 2 of their best of seven series.

The two teams faced off in Windsor on Saturday, with the Spitfires winning 7-1.

The Spitfires grabbed an early two-goal lead, scoring twice in the first three minutes of the first period. Opening the scoring was Noah Morneau, his 3rd of the playoffs, from Jack Nesbitt and Ilya Protas. The second was Carter Hicks 1st with the helpers going to Ethan Garden and AJ Spellacy.

Sault Ste. Marie cut the lead in half before the end of the period, thanks to a goal from Owen Allard.

The second period saw another two goals from the Spitfires. Garden got his 1st of the playoffs from Nathan Gaymes and Shawn Costello before Laim Greentree added his 3rd goal from Protas and Morneau.

Morneau would add two more goals in the third period for the hat-trick. Greentree assisted on both with Protas and Nesbitt added helpers.

The last goal of the game came from Spellacy, who scored his 1st goal shorthanded.

The two teams will face in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday for Game 3. Puck drop is set for 7:07 p.m.
