Huron Grain Grower Rep On Falling Bee Population

A spokesman for Huron County grain growers says the falling bee population is affected by more than just pesticides.

Keith Black says that's something the government doesn't seem to understand.

Black talked about the bees versus neonic pesticide situation at the recent Huron Federation of Agriculture's local politicians day in Clinton.

He says the issue also goes beyond bees to include all pollinators, such as tame bees, wild bees and butterflies.

Black told the meeting that Grain Farmers of Ontario had put together an alternative proposal to what the government was suggesting for pollinator health.

Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb and Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson were among those at that recent Huron County Federation of Agriculture session.

Keith Black says the provincial government needs to realize the falling bee population is affected by more than just the pesticide.
