Some soybean fields in the region were under water after last weekend's rains.
OMAFRA's Horst Bohner says soybeans can survive from 2 days to a week of flooding - depending on growth stage and the weather.
Younger beans can survive up to a week in cloudy, cool conditions.
Under more average summer weather, Bohner says they may survive for as little as 2 days.
Fields with their roots under water for 2 days or less can be expected to have minimal yield loss.
More than 4 days could see yield losses of from 43 to 56 per cent.
Bohner warns there are also a number of diseases that can take advantage of the wet conditions.
Generally speaking, the OMAFRA specialist says by the time conditions are dry enough for a possible replant it will be clear if the plants have survived.
The key indicator of survival is new growth on the soybean plants.
