Jim Clark says a number of Japanese retail representatives appear to be suitably impressed by what they're seeing this week of the Ontario Corn Fed Beef Program.
Clark is the Executive Director of the Ontario Cattle Feeders Association.
The Association is touring a number of those reps around the province this week, showing off the various protocols, processes and the care involved in the program.
One Japanese retailer - Kinsho - started retailing Ontario Corn Fed Beef in some of it's stores in May.
The Association is hoping this week's tour will help expand the program into other Japanese outlets.
Clark says the Ontario Corn Fed Beef program carries a niche brand that fits into Kinsho's retailing system.
The Association estimates the growth potential for the program in the Japanese market is about 15 million dollars a year.
It suggests developing that market would also directly support over 15 hundred jobs in the meat-processing sector in Ontario alone.
