Farmers hoping to have access to natural gas got some good news from Queen's Park.
A new partnership has been announced to push natural gas into rural Ontario.
The Ontario Federation of Agriculture says the provincial government and gas companies will immediately develop a plan to install more rural pipelines in each of the next 20 years.
OFA President Don McCabe says the extra access could save rural businesses, residents and farmers more than a billion dollars annually.
He adds the extra money can then be put back into local economies.
The federation notes the proposed program will require public investment and a viable rural rate for gas set by the Ontario Energy Board.
