Windsor mayoral candidate Drew Dilkens is renewing his commitment to keep tax increases at or below the rate of inflation if he gets re-elected.
"My commitment today is really simple, continue to do what I've done for the last 12 years, to deliver budgets at or below the rate of inflation. This particular term of City Council we had a budget that was lowest tax increase of any city in Ontario," said Dilkens.
At a campaign announcement Thursday, Dilkens also committed to creating a new Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Development.
"What I'm talking about is a permanent committee that would operate year-round that would be focused on finance and economic development and not just a spotlight on finance at budget time," said Dilkens. "One that is embedded in the culture of city hall and one that has councillors actively engaged in finding revenue-generating options but also looking at the budget more regularly."
Other mayoral candidates include Fred Francis, Kat Pasquach, Benjamin Danyluk, Aaron Day, Dylon Graves, Tara Grayer, Nick Kolasky, Tristan Ty Morencie, Patrick Sutherland, and Louis Vautopic.
The election is Monday, October 26.
