131 U.S. farm groups have co-signed a letter to President Donald Trump with regards to the North American Free Trade Agreement.
The letter, called "U.S. Food and Agriculture Dialogue for Trade", makes mention of the agricultural sectors contributions to America's economy.
It adds a big part of that comes from exports, which generated more than $420 billion in economic activity in 2015.
The authors of the letter feel success from agricultural trade and commerce comes from collaboration with America's nearest neighbours.
They note the market access to Canada and Mexico has quadrupled exports in the last 22 years, to a value of $38.6 billion.
The groups also points out how American farmers produce more food than the country can consume, and barrier-free trade allows the industry to keep rural communities sustainable.
The letter concludes by saying the undersigned are looking forward to working with the new President and his administration in preserving and expanding upon the gains already achieved within the North American Market.
Notable signatures include Deere & Company, the American Soybean Association, the National Association of Wheat Growers, the National Pork Producers Council, and the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
