The U.S. corn and soybean harvests remain closely behind averages, according to the USDA.
As of Sunday, 11% of the U.S. corn crop had been harvested, compared with a 17% five-year average. Illinois farmers have picked 11% of their corn crop, and Indiana is 10% complete and Iowa 3%.
Also, 61% of the U.S. corn crop had been rated good/excellent, equal to 61% a week ago, according to the USDA Crop Progress Report Monday.
USDA pegged the amount of the U.S. corn in the dented growth stage at 93% vs. a 95% five-year average. The U.S. corn crop is pegged as 51% mature vs. a 64% five-year average.
For soybeans, the U.S. soybean crop is 10% harvested versus a 12% five-year average. USDA pegged the soybean crop’s condition at 60% good/excellent, versus a 59% rating one week ago.
The USDA pegged soybean leaf-dropping at 63% vs. a 63% five-year average.
