The Trillium Hatchery Inc. operation in Stratford is open.
Trillium is a consortium of Ontario farmers and they held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week at their new 70,000 sq ft facility in Stratford’s Wright Business Park.
The new facility, which began construction in 2017, utilizes a new technology, called HatchCare.
It's a system which aims to provide stronger, healthier chicks in an animal-friendly and antibiotic-free production with a superior environment through the entire hatching process. Contractors, engineers and labour have been sourced from Stratford companies throughout the project and the 70,000 square foot facility has seen total investment over $25 million.
The hatchery is expected to employ more than 20 full time staff.
