A Superior Court Justice has ruled that the trial of two people charged with the murder of Sarnia school teacher Noelle Paquette will be held in Windsor.
According the the London Free Press, Justice Thomas Heeney, in written statement, says Windsor has a large urban population from whom a jury can be selected, and is a sufficient distance from Sarnia that publicity-related concerns would not be an issue.
The region's senior justice also says Windsor has a new provincial jail which is ideal for efficient prisoner transport.
The jury trial for 21-year-old Michael MacGregor and 33-year-old Tanya Bogdanovich is set to begin on April 4, 2016.
The newly renovated Elgin County Courthouse in St. Thomas will be used for pre-trial motions that will be held this year and early next year.
27-year-old Noelle Paquette was found in a woodlot off Mandaumin Rd. January 2, 2013 after she had gone missing following a New Years Eve party in downtown Sarnia.
Noelle's Gift to assist disadvantaged children has raised over $400,000 since her death.
