Lakeshore councillor Linda McKinlay is looking to follow Chatham-Kent's lead when it comes to ATV's.
McKinlay wants a bylaw passed to allow all-terrain vehicles to drive on rural roadways.
"This will be a first in this area and those things take time," says McKinlay. "I don't think it should've taken this much time, but I'm pretty sure it's going to happen."
Chatham-Kent is set to vote on a new bylaw in September that would let ATV's on the road. The Lakeshore councillor likes what she sees in the neighbouring municipality's approach.
"First of all, it's absolutely working. They're experiencing no bad circumstances because of this bylaw, everyone's enjoying it and everyone is respecting the laws," says McKinlay.
Lakeshore council is set to get a report back on options for a possible bylaw in the town.
New rules from the province effective as of July 1, 2015 now allow ATV's on provincial roadways, which has area council's looking to revise local bylaws.
