Chatham-Kent's crime statistics are following the national trend and dropping according to police Chief Gary Conn.
With no murders in 2014 and other violent crimes falling, Conn says the figures show Chatham-Kent is a safe place, but the number of break-ins remains a problem.
"We are still slightly over the national average so there is still room for improvement there, but compared to last year we reduced by 14%," he says.
And he says it doesn't necessarily mean police work is slowing down.
"75 to 80% of our calls deal with social disorder and not necessarily criminal matters so we are still fielding all those calls surrounding public disorder issues," he says.
Conn says the release is a measure of the number and severity of crimes and the drop is good news for the country and for Chatham-Kent.
