After losing in Chatham-Kent-Leamington by about 4% of the vote, Liberal Katie Omstead says she'll be putting her name forward to run again.
She says it's frustrating to see the vote split between the Liberals and NDP, which allowed Conservative incumbent Dave Van Kesteren to "slip through."
It's also a bitter-sweet feeling, she says, after seeing a Liberal majority.
"Very happy to see the numbers of who turned out to vote and how close it was in the end," she says. "It's clear change is wanted here and we'll work hard in the years to come to ensure people get that change."
All along Omstead and her team expected a close race.
"I was up against a three-time incumbent, who in the last election won in a landslide," she says. "He obviously had a strong base of support and I think he was supported by a segment of this community."
Van Kesteren won with 21,715 votes, Omstead trailing with 19,402.
