The University of Windsor's director of athletics and recreational services is hopeful there may still be a chance for the rejected sports complex project in the future.
"To have it fail by a pretty narrow margin is certainly disappointing," says Mike Havey, speaking to BlackburnNews.com.
He feels seeing two of the three student groups back the initiative is a good sign for the project's future, but isn't sure of the next course of action just yet.
"We spent over two years getting this project to the point where we're at now," says Havey. "I honestly don't know the way forward at this point in time."
Havey doesn't feel the referendum result was unexpected.
"We're talking about money so, am I surprised? No. It's not a shock. Students have every right to be concerned about what they're willing to pay for fees," says Havey.
The plan to charge students for the $73-million complex was rejected after two days of voting ending on December 1.
