With a high of 15 C (59 F) on Saturday and 14 C (58 F) on Sunday, Environment Canada predicts some long-standing records are going to fall this weekend.
Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the record high for December 12 is 13.9 C (57 F), set back in 1946. The record for December 13, set in 1991, was 13.2 C (55.7 F).
"I think it speaks more to the trend that we've seen -- across much of the province starting all the way back in the month of November," says Coulson. "This month has started off in the same way. Very, very mild."
The average temperature so far this month in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent has been 3 C (37.4 F), and if the temperatures remain mild, Coulson says the region could experience its warmest December since 2006.
Temperatures are expected to fall to more seasonal values next week, and there's a chance the region may see some snow, but Coulson says the warm air is expected to make a return, and we could be in store for a green Christmas.
