Chatham-Kent police are once again reminding shoppers that leaving packages in plain sight, especially in unlocked vehicles just makes it easier for people who want to steal them.
Constable Renee Cowell says it is always worth remembering but especially at times of the year when people are picking up presents.
"Leaving your vehicle unlocked and your valuables in plain view offers criminals an easy opportunity," she says. Cowell added that leaving ownership and registration information in the vehicle can result in identity theft.
Cowell says officers have been handing out information at shopping areas again this year, and are engaging people and ready to answer questions.
