Wallaceburg Family Suing Police, Neighbour

Chatham-Kent police and one of its constables have been named in a $2.4-million lawsuit that alleges malicious prosecution, conspiracy, and breaches of the Charter of Rights.

It's alleged that a common law couple in Wallaceburg engaged in a threesome with a female 21-year-old neighbour in 2009. The claim states the husband and the neighbour, who was living with her parents at the time, continued their relationship for eight months before he broke it off, to her dismay.

Upon learning of the affair, it's alleged the woman's parents made life extremely difficult for the couple, making false accusations, which eventually led to a police raid where the common law couple was arrested in front of their two children.

The lawsuit also names the parents and another daughter for damages, mental suffering, and harassment.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
