Park In Driveways If Possible

As Chatham-Kent crews work to keep municipal streets clear and safe for residents, they ask motorists to avoid parking on area roads if possible.

"Visibility is limited," says Public Works Director Miguel Pelletier. "We don't want the snow plows to hit cars as well. If it looks too tight and a snow plow can't make it, then it prevents us from clearing some of the streets."

There is no parking ban in effect, but Pelletier says it would still be a big help if there were as few cars on the roads as possible.

10cm or nearly 4 in of snow is expected overnight Tuesday, and Pelletier says plows and salt/sand trucks are already out patrolling municipal roads. He anticipates major streets and arteries to be cleared by tomorrow morning, but motorists should still take precautions.

"There still could potentially be icy conditions, and some snow drifts as well. So people should drive to the conditions," says Pelletier.

A freezing rain warning remains in effect for Chatham-Kent.
