Local dairy farmers are coming together to help the Jobin family in the wake of the fire that killed half their cattle.
"We know the families and we'll support them any way we can and that's just the way it's been for years," says former dairy farmer and past president of the Essex County Federation of Agriculture Mark Balkwill.
He says many of the community's dairy farmers were at the Jobin farm until the wee hours of the morning to help with the remaining cattle.
"Right now I actually have some of the animals here in the barn and we're making sure that they're comfortable and fed, water is available. If the vets are needed we'll bring the veterinarians in, whatever the cattle need," says Balkwill.
Balkwill says the family will need some time to decide how to rebuild what they've lost.
"That's your lifes work right there. You grow it, you build it and then to lose it in a matter of hours, it's quite devastating ," says Balkwill.
The fire Monday night on the 11th Concession in Tecumseh caused over $1-million in damage and killed over 100 cattle.
