Three Sectors One Vision

Competition for donations and volunteers hours didn't keep nonprofit agencies from collaborating at the spring conference recently.

Project coordinator of the Chatham-Kent Nonprofit Network Kim Broadbent says more than 100 people took part and not only from the nonprofit sector.

"Representing over 60 organizations, business and local government," she says. "Our theme for this year is Three Sectors One Vision, having representatives from all three sectors including high school students has given us time to communicate and make new connections."

Broadbent says economic issues and struggles to keep volunteers are always there.

"It's a challenge no matter what, that's where the whole working together collectively well all, in the end, have the same goal of making Chatham-Kent the best place to live," she says.

Broadbent says the groups have been working with schools to help students discover volunteering and not only the 40 hours they are required to fulfill, but to become engaged at volunteering.
