One of the men accused in a Tilbury dog fighting ring case wants his dogs back.
According to his attorney, 32-year-old Robert Tomlin has no idea where his eight dogs are. Lawyer Frank Retar says they were seized when his client was arrested on March 1.
Meanwhile, the three other suspects accused of being involved in the alleged Tilbury dog fighting ring have expressed interest in sending the remaining 21 pit bulls to Dog Tales, a shelter north of Toronto. On Wednesday, a provincial judge will begin hearing from animal rights groups willing to rescue the dogs. This as the Ontario SPCA fights to euthanize the pit bulls.
Retar is also looking for disclosure of evidence in the case. The Crown says disclosure hasn't taken place yet because the head attorney has been on vacation since April. The defence attorney will hope to receive that, as well as information about Tomlin's dogs, on Friday.
