Police Asking For Info On Vulnerable Persons

The Chatham-Kent Police Service has introduced another online tool to help in its investigations.

The Vulnerable Persons Registry is now live on the CKPS website. The registry allows caregivers for those with mental illness and developmental disabilities to enter their description and tendencies online.

Sergeant Jason Chickowski says this saves time when someone goes missing.

"Family members are trying to track that person down, and many times we struggle to find quick information to locate these vulnerable people," says Chickowski. "Having the information received directly from family members in our database, will allow us to react a lot faster."

Chickowski says they have to track down missing people more often than you might think. The registry allows them to find out more information besides a just person's physical description.

"They'll be asked a series of questions with regards to any medical issues or mental health issues, and suggestions and locations that would be handy for us if we receive a call for service," says Chickowski.
