The Toronto Maple Leafs have claimed Wallaceburg-native and former London Knight Seth Griffith off waivers from the Boston Bruins.
Griffith was drafted by Boston in the 5th round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (131st overall). He spent three seasons bouncing between the Providence Bruins in the AHL and the Boston Bruins in NHL.
Griffith only played 34 games in the NHL from 2013 to 2016, putting up 11 points over that stretch (6 goals, 5 assists), but he had a lot more success in the AHL where he posted 77 points in just 57 games for the Providence Bruins last season.
Over the course of his young career, the 23-year-old has scored 56 goals and totaled 158 points in 165 AHL games and was named an AHL 1st Team All-Star in the 2015-2016 season.
As reported by the Globe And Mail's James Mirtle, Griffith's past relationship with former London Knights executive Mark Hunter helped him get noticed.
Babcock says he doesn't know much about Seth Griffith but that Hunter vouched for him.

He signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with Boston earlier this year and spent his off-season training in Chatham.
He also managed to score several highlight-reel goals including this one against the New Jersey Devils:
