The head of the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is moving on, after being with the organization since amalgamation.
Michele Grzebien-Huckson has been with the Foundation for 18 years, spending 12 of those as executive director.
"I've had my time to shine, and I'm so proud of everything that I've done here. But I'm going to take a little time, relax, and stop to smell the roses," says Grzebien-Huckson.
Her resume includes the $20-million fundraiser that saw the expansion and restructuring of the CKHA, along with the creation of the local Canadian Association of Gift Planners Roundtable.
Currently, the foundation is working through its $6.9-million diagnostic imaging renewal campaign.
Grzebien-Huckson is sure the team she's leaving will complete the project in good time.
"We're at 60% of the goal. It's a big number, probably one of the biggest numbers we've had to go out to the community with," says Grzebien-Huckson. "But I'm totally confident the team I have in place will get to that goal."
When asked what she'll miss the most Grzebien-Huckson says it'll be seeing the fruits of their labour pay off.
"When we took the roof off the hospital to load an MRI into the room it was going it, that was so rewarding," says Grzebien-Huckson. "It's a big responsibility."
