TEDx Motivates Sold-out Crowd

From a man who struggled with depression in college, to a local band promoting the health benefits of music, organizers are calling Thursday's Tedx Chatham-Kent a success.

"We have the community to thank to that," says Fannie Vavoulis. "We realize, by selling out every year, there is a need for conferences like Ted Talks in Chatham-Kent."

This is the conference's third year, and third-straight sellout. The lecture series also included some musical performances.

Vavoulis adds many of the 16 speakers are from Chatham-Kent.

"It's extremely encouraging to have that support. It goes to show there's local talent here, and we can bring talent from outside to our community to make it a better place," says Vavoulis.

Other speakers included Sgt. Brian Knowler, a Chatham-Kent police officer who suffered from PTSD, and Samantha White, who performs Shakespeare in the inner-city of Detroit.
