CK Ready For An Influx Of Newcomers In Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent is ready for more newcomers.

Tracy Callaghan, executive director of the area's Adult Language and Learning Centre, says since Chatham-Kent has been designated a welcoming community, which means the municipality could be welcoming more immigrants and refugees in the future.

Callaghan says her 26 staff members are kept busy with language, settlement, and youth services and pre-employment programs, but "right now we're in wait list position and we're working on strategies to assist everyone in a timely manner."

Callaghan says her centre serves about 100 newcomers a day.
