Fireworks will light up the sky this long weekend, but it won't be in celebration of the civic holiday.
Heather Clifford, secretary for Chatham Canada Day, says the festivities which were originally set for June 30, to celebrate Canada's 150th will take place on Sunday.
"We're going to have the postponed Canada Day fireworks event at St. Clair College," she says. "The event is going to start at 8pm and that's going to have some vendors on-site, as well as [the band] Under The Covers playing on-stage."
The event was postponed because of the amount of rain in Chatham-Kent at the time.
According to Environment Canada's weekend forecast, there is a chance of rain for Sunday, however, Clifford says they're hoping for good weather.
"It looks like there's not going to be enough rain to really impact the fireworks," she says. "We have talked about a potential rain day if the need comes but at this point we're hopeful that [the fireworks] will go off on Sunday."
Clifford says there will be a bus pick-up for residents who need a ride to the event.
The buses, provided by First Student Inc., will start picking people up between 8pm and 9pm -- before the fireworks start. Pick-up locations will be at Erickson Arena, Memorial Arena, and the municipal parking lot across from Harvey's on St. Clair St.
Clifford says there will also be a wheel-chair accessible bus.
