An offensive threat with the Windsor Spitfires is picking up where he left off.
Forward Logan Brown has completed his first weekend of games since returning to the team from the Ottawa Senators. During those three games on the Spits' annual swing through northern Ontario, Brown scored three goals and three assists for a total of six points.
His first game back, a 4-0 Windsor loss at North Bay, was non-productive as he adjusted to his environment but Brown tells BlackburnNews.com he was more comfortable in the two games that followed.
"I felt good," says Brown. "I had some good linemates with [Aaron] Luchuk and [Luke] Boka. I've played with them here and there throughout the past couple of years, so that's some chemistry there."
Brown, 19, was drafted by the Senators in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He says being invited to training camp and then making the squad was a memorable experience.
"I had a good camp, then a good preseason. I made the team coming out of camp," says Brown. "I played a couple of NHL games but the coaches just felt it was best for me to come here and play a big role, and play a lot."
The Senators have a surplus of forwards with more experience, which was the reason behind sending Brown back to the team where he won the Memorial Cup. He didn't return to Windsor though without scoring his first-ever NHL point, an assist against the rival Toronto Maple Leafs.
"It would have been better to get my first goal, but that first NHL point is stuff you dream about as a kid," says Brown. "Especially when you do it in the Battle of Ontario. That was a sold out barn, it was pretty cool."
Brown returns to a Spitfires squad that is in flux after losing players to the pros and eligibility. Going into Thursday night's game against the Hamilton Bulldogs, Windsor is 9-5-1, good for third place in the OHL West Division.
After hosting the Bulldogs, the Spitfires hit the road Saturday for their first meeting with the Erie Otters since beating them in May for the Memorial Cup.
