A Chilly Night For Trick Or Treating

Chilly winds could be howling as much as the ghosts and ghouls on Halloween night.

Environment Canada says Tuesday night could be the coolest Halloween across southwestern Ontario in a few years.

Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says there is a slight chance of rain in the Halloween forecast, but those showers will likely stay away, leaving the cool and breezy conditions.

"It looks like the chilly conditions are going to be the big story for the trick-or-treaters," says Coulson. "Temperatures are only going to be around 5 C by the time they head out the door... and there still could be a brisk wind coming up from the southwest."

Coulson says while late October is typically brisk for southwestern Ontario, this Halloween will be the chilliest in a while.

"This is probably the coolest Halloween we've seen in the past few years," says Coulson. "Certainly those winds out of the southwest will make it feel that much cooler."

The weather agency says any significant chance of showers will be to the north of the area, but for the trick-or-treaters who don't want to wear a zipped-up jacket as they walk Tuesday night, dressing in layers underneath would be ideal.

Coulson says the rest of the week from Windsor to London will be more seasonable temperature-wise with a high of 13 C on Thursday. A chance of showers remains for both Wednesday and Thursday.
