Animal Cruelty Charges Laid Against Two West Grey Residents

Two West Grey residents are facing animal cruelty charges following an investigation into the welfare of horses in their care.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says investigators searched a farm in January and found seven horses living in terrible conditions.

The OSPCA says the horses coats were matted with manure, and the animals were confined to water-logged stalls inside of a barn. Six of the horses were underweight.

A 57-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman are facing multiple charges, including causing distress to an animal, failure to provide adequate food and water, and failure to provide sanitary conditions.

They're scheduled to appear in Walkerton court in May.
