2018 Municipal Election Race Continues Into Fourth Week

A couple of new candidates have filed their nomination papers for the upcoming municipal election.

Residents started filing their papers at the beginning of May and have until July 27 to do so. Two people entered the race this week (the fourth week).

Below is a current list of people running for council. The names in bold are those who filed their papers this week to run in the race for Chatham-Kent council.

Ward 5 – Wallaceburg
  • Chris Glassford
  • Aaron Hall
  • Carmen McGregor (current councillor)
  • Nicolas Cadotte
Ward 6 – Chatham
  • James Thompson
  • Larry Vellinga
  • Michael Bondy (current councillor)

For the position of trustee, John Mrnik, Robert (Bob) Demers, and John Van Heck have filed their papers.

As for mayoral candidates, Councillor Darrin Canniff and local advocate Alysson Storey are the only two to file their papers. However, Mayor Randy Hope says he will be running but he’ll wait until after the provincial election to throw his hat into the ring.
