Thousands of dollars worth of tools stolen
Around $5,000 worth of construction tools were stolen from a home under construction in Blenheim.
According to police, it happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday. They were called to the area of Cundle Line after reports of a break and enter. The suspects entered the residence at some point that night and got away with the tools.

44-year-old man charged with assault
A 44-year-old Wheatley man was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon after an altercation with his wife.
The man was transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters on Thursday night where he was held for a bail hearing.
A release from Chatham-Kent Police Services states there were two arguments, one on April 18, the other on April 19.
Both resulted in the couple getting into physical altercations.
During one of the arguments, the woman was thrown to the ground. During the other, an object was thrown at her, but she did not require medical attention on either date.
Storage locker theft in Chatham
Police are searching for the person responsible for stealing from a storage locker.
Officers arrived at a business on Hart Place in Chatham Friday morning after getting a report that a theft that had occurred overnight. Around 1 a.m. that morning a man was seen cutting the lock off the locker. The suspect got away with refrigeration repair equipment, valued around $1,000.

Man arrested for breaching conditions
On Saturday morning officers were able to bust a man for breaching his bail conditions.
It started when police conducted a traffic stop around 3 a.m. and recognized the man in the passenger seat. The 34-year-old was currently under bail conditions which included observing a nightly curfew.
The Blenheim man was arrested for failing to comply with release conditions and taken into police custody where is being held for a bail hearing.
Traffic blitz nets 15 distracted drivers

A Thursday night traffic blitz conducted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service ended with 15 people receiving tickets for being on their phone while driving. The blitz was aimed at roadway safety and specifically focused on distracted driving.
A total of 60 tickets were issued during the traffic trap. Other violations included speeding, failing to wear a seatbelt and drivers not carrying insurance.
Police are reminding the public penalties for these infractions are severe.
Driving without a seatbelt result in a $240 fine and two demerit points. Distracted driving holds a $615 fine for first convictions plus three demerit points and a three-day license suspension.
