Gas bar assault
A 45-year-old man has been charged after allegedly punching someone in the mouth at a local gas station.*
Officers were called to Petro Canada Gas Bar on Park Avenue East in Chatham, at around 4 a.m. Friday. Police said the assault happened following an argument between the accused and another customer at the store. The customer who was punched was taken to the Chatham hospital for medical attention.
A 45-year-old man was picked up by police near the gas station and is now charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Police stop overweight commercial truck
Chatham-Kent police are reminding commercial truck drivers and companies to abide by weight restrictions.
The reminder comes after officers spotted a commercial vehicle tilting and swaying on Queens Line. Officers with the Traffic Unit stopped the truck Thursday and found that the vehicle was overweight.
The driver -- a 48-year-old Windsor man -- has been charged with driving an overweight vehicle. Meanwhile, the trucking company has also been charged with allowing the vehicle to be driven.

Man charged with mischief
Throwing a piece of brick at the police headquarters in Chatham didn't end too well for one man.
Police said one of their windows was chipped following the incident around 1 p.m. Thursday. Officers arrested a suspect shortly after on King Street, but during a search, police said they found methamphetamine in the man's possession.
A 47-year-old man is now charged with mischief under $5,000, drug possession, and failing to comply. He has a court date set for May 23.

Drivers stopped in Thamesville
Eleven drivers have been charged for allegedly speeding in a construction zone of the new bridge crossing over the Thames River on Victoria Road in Thamesville.
Police are reminding drivers that fines are doubled when workers are present at construction sites.

Video surveillance stolen
Police are searching for some surveillance equipment that has been stolen from a residence on Grand River Line during a daytime breakin.
Sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, someone broke into a residence. A video surveillance system was reported stolen and about $400 worth of damage was caused during the break-in.
