A Chatham woman won't get any jail time for duping her employer into two paid leaves of absence.
Heather Cadotte, 39, of Chatham was sentenced to one-year probation and 50 hours of community service at the Chatham courthouse on Monday.
She previously pleaded guilty to submitting forged documents in 2017 and 2019 to get medical leaves of absence from work at the CK Women’s Centre.
She is also paying back $1,340 in benefits she received.
Cadotte was also charged with two counts each of fraud and forgery but they were dropped.
The court heard she forged doctors’ notes in August of 2017 and again in February of 2019 to get paid time off. Her employer found out this spring and reported her.
Cadotte is married with three children and the court heard that “she learned a valuable lesson.” Cadotte told the judge she is “very sorry” and the lesson for her and her kids is to “be honest and tell the truth” and “even a mother can make mistakes.”
