Man found hiding in attic

A 40-year-old Chatham man, wanted on outstanding warrants, has been arrested after he was found hiding in an attic.

Police said the man had been wanted for violent domestic-related offences and breaching his probation order.

Members of the Critical Incident Response Team were called to a residence on Wednesday night as officers believed the man may have had a weapon. After searching the home, officers realized someone was in the attic. Eventually, police said the man came down from the attic and turned himself in.

The Chatham man was arrested on outstanding warrants and held in custody.

Industrial accident in Thamesville

The Ministry of Labour has been called to investigate an industrial accident at a business on Longwoods Road in Thamesville.

Chatham-Kent police said a 44-year-old man was taken to the hospital on Wednesday with non-life-threatening injuries.

Crashes reported in Wallaceburg and Chatham

A couple of people are facing charges following two separate crashes on Wednesday.

Police said a driver lost control of their vehicle on Dufferin Avenue near James Street in Wallaceburg and crashed into a hydro pole around 6:30 a.m. Damage is estimated at $30,000. A 51-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with careless driving.

Shortly later at 8:30 a.m., police were called to a two-vehicle crash on Keil Drive near Richmond Street in Chatham. No injuries were reported. One of the drivers has been charged with making an unsafe turn.

Man accused of being out past curfew

A 23-year-old man has been charged with failing to comply following reports of a "suspicious man".

Police said officers were called to a business on Park Avenue in Chatham around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The 23-year-old was allegedly out past his curfew. He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Police participate in parades

Chatham-Kent police will be participating in a few more Christmas parades this weekend.

The Thamesville parade will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. There are two parades on Saturday, he first is at 1 p.m. in Ridgetown and the second is at 6 p.m. in Dresden.
