Two arrests on warrants

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 50-year-old Wallaceburg woman and a 36-year-old Chatham man who were both wanted by Chatham-Kent police.

Police said the woman was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Walmart in Chatham and then failing to attend court.

She was arrested Wednesday afternoon and later released pending a future court date.

The man was arrested after an officer on general patrol followed up on a suspicious vehicle that was parked on the side of Longwoods Road west of Kent Bridge Wednesday night.

Police said as the officer approached the vehicle, he saw a man sitting in the passenger seat and allegedly learned that he was wanted for breaching his probation order.

The accused was taken into custody pending a bail hearing and the truck was towed from the scene.
