Local public health units are emphasizing the recommendations released by Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health.
The latest recommendations are to further stem the spread of COVID-19 in the province.
The province is strongly recommending the additional closures across Ontario: Recreational programs and libraries Churches and other faith settings Daycares Private schools All bars and restaurants - unless restaurants can do take-out and delivery.
Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth, Dr. Miriam Klassen, says the recommendations are to further encourage residents to undertake social distancing at this time. Adding it is a critical time to flatten the growth curve of COVID-19 in the province and in Canada.
“The public health measures being taken are to delay and decrease the number of cases of COVID-19 over time so as not to overwhelm our healthcare system,” says Dr. Klassen. “We appreciate that these measures pose difficulties and inconveniences for many of our residents. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this difficult time.”
Residents who have travelled outside of Canada, including to the United States, are strongly encouraged to self quarantine for 14 days.
The Public Health Agency of Canada also updated its recommendations today to advise that people postpone, cancel, or decrease the size of mass gatherings of 50 or more.
