In an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the City of London has announced the closure of all outdoor play structures effective Tuesday.
The closure covers playgrounds, skate parks, and multi-use courts.
"Messages reinforcing the importance of following all precautions related to slowing the spread of COVID-19 were shared with the public throughout the weekend. Site visits by City officials as well as concerns raised by the public have indicated that many of these precautions were not being followed, especially physical distance," the city said in a news release issued Monday.
The city says all sports fields, golf courses, and community gardens will also remain closed until further notice.
City parks and open spaces are still open, but anyone using these spaces are still being asked to obey the recommendations aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19. These recommendations include:
Staying two metres away from each other Avoiding all non-essential gatherings of any size Staying home from work or other activities if you are sick Self-isolating if you have travelled outside of Canada Washing hands with soap and water frequently Covering coughs and sneezes with your sleeve or cough and sneeze into your elbow Cleaning and disinfecting high touch areas frequently
