Vehicle driving in reverse signals trouble
A 48-year-old Harwich Township woman has been charged with impaired driving after police stopped a vehicle that was going backwards down Victoria Avenue in Chatham without any of its lights on.
Police said an officer on general patrol spotted the vehicle driving in reverse Monday night and initiated a traffic stop. At that time, the officer also suspected the woman behind the wheel was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Investigators said the woman failed a roadside breath test and was then taken to the OPP station for further testing.
As a result, the driver was charged with having a blood alcohol content over the legal limit and later released pending a future court date. Her vehicle was also towed from the scene.

No injuries reported in multi-vehicle crash
Damage is estimated at $30,000 after a three-vehicle collision happened on St. Clair Street near Gregory Drive in Chatham on Monday.
Police said the collision happened around 3 p.m. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Officers said the at-fault driver was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Assault charge after incident in Dresden
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault after Chatham-Kent police were called to investigate a domestic disturbance in Dresden Monday afternoon.
Police said the man was later released from custody pending a future court date.

Intoxicated in public
A 58-year-old man who was allegedly intoxicated in public spent some time sobering up in police custody on Monday
Police said they arrested the man and charged him with being intoxicated in a public place after getting a call about a suspicious person on Joseph Street in Chatham Monday afternoon.
Police said the man was taken into custody for his own safety and later released once he sobered up.

Charge laid after complaint in Tilbury
A 45-year-old Brampton man is in trouble with police after he allegedly damaged someone's vehicle in Tilbury on Monday.
Officers said they arrested the man while they were responding to a complaint between two men who know each other.
The accused was charged with mischief and later released with a future court date.

Tools, corn seed reported stolen
Chatham-Kent police are putting out a call for tips from the public as they try to solve a break-in and theft in Thamesville.
Police said someone broke into a shed on Magnavilla Line between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday and took off with various power tools and some Pioneer corn seed.
The total value of the theft is estimated at $3,500.
