Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is delaying an immediate launch of such services until processes and measures have been fully developed to ensure the safety of staff and customers.
“While work on these processes and procurement of necessary supplies has begun. We are not able to immediately open our doors. We are working on plans for exactly how, where, and when these services will be rolled out,” says Tim Nicholls Harrison, OSNGUPL CEO and chief librarian.
“The library will continue to keep everyone informed as decisions are made and plans confirmed," said OSNGUPL Board Chair Richard Thomas. "We want to ensure that our staff and the public can safely navigate what is often, one of the busiest public buildings in the region.”
With the building closed, library services have continued. Staff assisted the public by providing online reference support when requested, providing tech support for those needing it, updating or register for library cards, and promoting online resources. Staff used Zoom and Facebook to offer programming, including virtual storytimes, to the community.
Supporting a growing region of communities across over 1,800 square kilometres, Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library offers services, collections, and programs to the municipalities of Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, and Owen Sound.
