The London Transit Commission (LTC) is asking passengers to adhere to its social distancing policies as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
The LTC has extended its practice of using the rear door to get on and off busses in the city until June 30. However, those with accessibility needs can continue to board and exit using the front doors.
As well, all passengers who utilize public transit are being asked by the LTC to wear a mask if physical distancing cannot be ensured. Everyone is also asked to avoid using public transit if they are experiencing any symptoms.
The rear boarding practice was first introduced in mid-March, eliminating the LTC’s ability to collect fares. The transit commission reported last month it expects to lose approximately $6 million by the end of May.
The LTC has also scaled back its services twice since the pandemic began, as a significant number of drivers have been taking vacation days and unpaid leave due to fears over the virus.
